Back up Plan

It's nice having a back-up plan when you blog. Some days I really have time to sit and write and others, like tonight, I just have a minute for a quick post.

But I think you'll still like it:

Chair?

This is a game we play everyday called "Chair."

We play it in the morning.

We play it in the afternoon after nap.

It involves picking up stuffed animals from his toy basket...

"Doggie?"

and pointing to his crib railing and saying "Chair?"

We line them up the rail and balancing them carefully.

"Ele-fountain....Chair?"

"Eee-oo" (Pinocchio)..."Chair?"

Once they are lined up....

It's time to knock them all down!

Wrestling

I know boys will probably end up doing a fair share of wrestling.

But Matthew's still a little small for that right now, so he chooses an opponent for suitable to his size and skill:

This is his "cookie." A little silky, taggy blanket my sister made for Matthew and Michael (and we have a spare cookie too). The name cookie originate with Jack, who spontaneously called his favorite silky blanket "cookie" and that is just their name in our family!

Matthew loves to wrestle with his cookie. He turns on his side, he chews on it...

...sometimes he's able to get a good clean pin...

...and sometimes the goings gets tough...

and so he tags in a partner!

A Moon with a View

The moon was in an optimal viewing spot from our front window a few weeks back (anyone notice that moon never seems to be out when you are looking for it?) and Michael had a blast saying good night to it.

The really super cute thing was that when I told him it was bed time and we need to say "bye-bye moon" Michael got down from his perch, and then spontaneously proceded to say "Good night" to everything in the apartment we passed by just like the book "Good night moon."

"Good night TV"

"Good night candy cane" (an overside candy cane that never found it's way back into the Christmas decorations closet).

"Good night books."

It was very cute.

A Snapshot of our week

....without any snapshots (sorry!)

Michael: Michael is rounding out a near-perfect week without any drama, tantrums and perfect obedience. He has been so so sweet!

Matthew: While Matthew is still the sweetest little boy, his sleeping has taken a step backwards in his sleeping. We moved him out of his car seat (where he was sleeping for 10 and 11 hours) and into his bed.

We did this for a few reasons:
1) It seems like it's better for him to stretch out a little in a bed instead of sitting hunched over in his car seat.

2) Everytime we put him into his car seat, he would wake up. So frustrating!

3) Ultimately, he needs to learn.. I mean, will he one and still in his car seat? I don't think so.

So, this transition to the bed has been a little rough. He is back to waking up every..well, sometimes hour...two if we're lucky. Three? Humph.

Last night, Matthew decided that despite going to bed at a reasonable 7:30pm, woke up at 1 and wanted to stay up, smiling and cooing until 5am. What?!! This has not happened before. What causes that! And no matter how cute Matthew is...very few things are that cute at 2, 3, and 4 in the morning.

Aggh! And I don't like myself at that time of day! I'm cranky and impatient, and tired!

It's got to better right? Well, in the words of John Lennon, it can't get no worse.

Bitteschon. My car. She's sick. She's real sick. She's "my piston blew a hole through my engine like a bullet" kind of sick. Ugh. No, no fun.

Thankfully, Michael was safe, and was able to pull off the freeway safely and get it taken in to the shop. And, as much as I am sad it happened to him, I am a little glad I didn't have to deal with that with two kids in the car.

Well, that's it for now. Hopefully all will be well this week!
